A message from Matt Bernstein, Editor-in-Chief

It’s been my genuine honor to lead our journal Magnetic Resonance in Medicine for the past nine years. It’s gone by fast—hard for me to believe that this is my 108th consecutive monthly message to you, our Subscribers!

Over the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a number of fascinating things.  [If you’re interested, check out the piece by Nikola Stikov and Erika Raven for the Highlights Blog: https://blog.ismrm.org/2019/05/06/matt-bernstein-building-the-mri-community-one-paper-at-a-time/.]  Serving as Editor of MRM has been a wonderful and unique experience, and I’m extremely thankful for the chance to lead our trailblazing journal.

MRM is in fantastic shape today because of all the hard work by you: our Authors, Reviewers, Deputy Editors, Editorial Board, Office Staff led by Shannon Stepanian, MRM Highlights team led by Nikola Stikov, ISMRM Central Office Staff led by Roberta Kravitz, and our partners at Wiley. Without each one of your contributions, MRM would be less. My sincere thanks to all, and I’m sorry if I unintentionally left anyone out!

In a few weeks we’ll begin a new decade, and on that day Peter Jezzard will become MRM’s next Editor-in-Chief. So this is my final message to our Subscribers. Our preparations for the editorial transition have gone very smoothly, and I’m confident that the best days of MRM lie ahead under Peter’s skilled leadership!

A limited print edition was available at the recent ISMRM Annual Meeting in Montreal.  This year’s edition features a cover story interview by Derek Jones of Joanne Ingwall, a Charter Member of the MRM Editorial Board and a pioneer in the field of cardiac energetics.

New! Editorial about promoting Reproducible Research

Promoting reproducible research has been a strategic goal of MRM for a number of years. For my final editorial, I collaborated with Nikola Stikov and Joshua Trzasko to summarize some of our achievements, and more importantly, describe further opportunities: Reproducibility and future of MRI research.  Dr. Jezzard is also a strong advocate of promoting reproducible research, so look for his exciting initiatives in this area during 2020!
